About the Role
As a Trainee Cardiac Sonographer, you will embark on a structured training programme that combines postgraduate study with hands on clinical experience in cardiac ultrasound. Working under the guidance of experienced Cardiac Sonographers, you will develop the knowledge, technical skills, and clinical competence required to perform and interpret echocardiography examinations while contributing to the delivery of high quality cardiology services.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for cardiac anatomy and physiology to build a rewarding career in a highly specialised field. You will gain exposure to a wide variety of cardiac conditions, work alongside a supportive multidisciplinary team, and complete the University of Auckland Postgraduate Diploma in Cardiac Ultrasound while earning an income and developing your expertise.

About the Team/Service/ Location
Our Cardiology Service is committed to providing high quality diagnostic and clinical care to patients across Hawke's Bay. As part of a supportive and experienced team of Cardiologists, Cardiac Sonographers, Clinical Physiologists, and nursing staff, you will receive comprehensive training and mentorship throughout your development journey.

About you
As a Trainee Cardiac Sonographer, you will bring:
- A Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Physiology, or an equivalent qualification that meets the University of Auckland entry requirements for the PGDipHSc Cardiac Ultrasound programme.
- A strong interest in cardiac anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic imaging.
- The ability to learn quickly, adapt to new challenges, and work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and relationship building skills.
- Strong information technology skills and a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
