About the Role
We’re thrilled to offer Registered Nurse opportunities in Cancer & Blood Services Te Tai Tokerau, delivering high-quality care to patients across Northland.
As a Registered Nurse delivering SACT, you’ll be part of a dynamic, collaborative, multidisciplinary team, delivering patient-focused care, contributing to service development, quality improvement, and mentoring junior staff. In playing a key role in expanding cancer and blood services, you’ll bring clinical expertise, a commitment to continuous learning, and a passion for equitable, evidence-based cancer care.
Key responsibility areas include:
- Utilise professional knowledge and skill to provide a holistic approach to nursing care that is safe and of the highest quality possible
- Patient Management and Care Co-ordination
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives within Cancer & Blood Services Te Tai Tokerau

About the Team/Service/Location
Cancer & Blood services currently provide both Haematology and Medical Oncology out-patient services including SACT administration. You will be working alongside a wide team of multi-disciplinary healthcare professionals to deliver SACT to this population. We provide treatment in several locations within Te Tai Tokerau including Kaitaia, Bay of Islands and due to open in May 2026 Dargaville. Once fully trained, you will be expected to travel on occasion to these units to deliver SACT.
The new Radiation oncology build is due to open in 2026, completing cancer care provided in Te Tai Tokerau – Great news for our patients!

About you
- Hold registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current APC
- Have post-registration experience in Oncology, Haematology and Chemotherapy is preferred, bringing your expertise to support patients and whanau. However, full training will be given
- Post Graduate Qualification or working towards is an advantage
- Share your mentoring, collaboration, and patient-centred care skills, helping grow and strengthen our teams
- Bring enthusiasm, professionalism, flexibility, and strong communication skills, contributing to a supportive and inclusive environment
