Clinical Nurse Specialist - Pain Management Service

About the Role
The Clinical Nurse Specialist will work with our Northland population experiencing acute or persistent (chronic) pain and their whānau, as part of a multidisciplinary team across the Northland Area Pain Service. These patients/tūroro/tangata whai ora are referred to our services for specialist pain management through the in-patient Acute Pain Service, the out-patient Persistent (chronic) Pain Service or the community Pain Management rehabilitation programme.
The Clinical Nurse Specialist is an advanced nursing speciality practice and is an expert in assessment skills; diagnostic reasoning, knowledge of pain management options and monitoring that underpins practice. They will have specialist knowledge of complex pain conditions which is central to the role.

About the Team/Service/ Location
This role will work collaboratively with other members of the Northland Area Pain Service team to provide expert advice, care co-ordination, resources and support to healthcare professionals working with high-priority and complex patients/tūroro/tangata whai ora with acute or persistent (chronic) pain conditions.

About you
- Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practicing Certificate
- Specialty knowledge and practice expertise in the area of acute and/or persistent (chronic) pain management.
- Postgraduate diploma in specialty nursing practice.
- A current Expert Registered Nurse Professional Development and Recognition Programme (PDRP) Portfolio
- Shows courtesy and respect in caring for patients/tūroro/tangata whai ora and their whānau/family in all aspects of nursing practice.
- Collaborates with the Northland Area Pain Service Multi-disciplinary team members to achieve improved health outcomes for clients experiencing acute or persistent (chronic) pain.
