About the Role
Support tamariki and their whānau to achieve their full potential through early intervention and person-centred care. As a Physiotherapist within the Child Development Service, this role provides assessment and intervention for children aged 0 to 16 years with a range of developmental needs.
Working within a multidisciplinary environment, you will deliver tailored physiotherapy plans that support functional development, mobility, and participation in everyday life. The role involves working closely with whānau, educators, and other health professionals to ensure coordinated and effective care. Your practice will reflect a strong commitment to equity, culturally responsive care, and improving outcomes for tamariki within the Eastern Bay of Plenty community.
About the Team/Service/Location
The Child Development service in Whakatāne bring together a multidisciplinary team of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Allied Health Assistants, Psychologists, Speech Language Therapists, Dietitians, and Administration staff. The team works collaboratively to deliver high quality, whānau centred care across the Eastern Bay of Plenty. Know for its supportive and inclusive environment, the service provides strong peer support and opportunities for ongoing development. About You
You will be a motivated and experienced Physiotherapist who is passionate about working with tamariki and supporting their development. Your approach is collaborative and grounded in building strong relationships with whānau and colleagues. Comfortable working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team you bring strong clinical skills, adaptability, and take pride in making a positive difference in the lives of children and their families.
What you will bring:
- Current registration with the Physiotherapy Board of NZ and Annual Practicing Certificate
- Experience working with tamariki aged 0 – 6 years
- Knowledge of the NZ health system and Enable New Zealand processes
- Strong assessment and intervention skills within paediatric physiotherapy
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills with tamariki and whānau
- Current full NZ driver’s licence
