About the Role
Starship Child Health is looking for Kaiwhakaora Ngangahau Occupational Therapists with a passion for working with tamariki and whanau, to join the paediatric therapy team. We have a full-time role (40 hours/week) opportunity across the Starship hospital setting, predominantly on the wards and some outpatient clinics.
· Work in partnership with tamariki, rangatahi, whanau and the interdisciplinary team to achieve best outcomes.
· Unique opportunity for occupationally focused practice across the rehabilitation journey
· Develop knowledge of child development and skills in whanau family centred practice
· Thrive within a vibrant, innovative and diverse setting amongst a supportive interdisciplinary team of Dietitians, Hospital Play Specialists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Language Therapists and Social Workers
About the Team/Service/ Location
Our team of Occupational Therapists thrives in a fast-paced, complex environment where evidence-based practice, strong interdisciplinary collaboration, whānau-centred care, and advanced clinical reasoning and decision-making are highly valued. We provide services across all inpatient areas within Starship Child Health, as well as selected outpatient services.
We support your practice through comprehensive orientation to your clinical context, alongside structured opportunities for critical reflection. This includes peer review, professional supervision, on-the-job training, and ongoing professional development opportunities.

About you
As the ideal person for this role, you will have the following skills and attributes:
- NZ registration as an Kaiwhakaora Ngangahau Occupational Therapist with current Annual Practicing Certificate
- Sound knowledge and skills in applying whakaora ngangahau occupational therapy knowledge, skills and values, as well as the ability to communicate this practice within a hospital setting.
- Innovative and able to communicate with others in complex decision making.
- Motivated to develop own as well as the teams professional practice and able to engage alongside others in the mahi required to achieve this.
- Experience in working in a hospital setting is desirable
- Experience working with children is desirable
- Passion for improving outcomes for tamariki and whanau
- Ability to work collaboratively with a range of professional groups in in interdisciplinary setting
