About the Role
Are you an experienced oncology or haematology clinical pharmacist with a passion for developing others and lifting workforce capability at scale? This newly created Pharmacist Clinical Coach – Cancer Services role offers a unique opportunity to influence, develop and support clinical pharmacy practice across the Northern Region (Te Tai Tokerau, Waitematā, Te Toka Tumai, Counties Manukau) for services provided under Te Pūriri o Te Ora, Regional Cancer and Blood services.
While this role is locally hosted at Te Toka Tumai Auckland, it operates regionally, working across Northern districts to support consistent, high quality education, onboarding and coaching, for pharmacy staff working in cancer and blood services. With exciting work in the expansion of Local Delivery of Oncology across the region - delivering chemotherapy administration closer to home. This role will be integral in supporting a consistent pharmacy service.
You will work closely with new, developing, and rotational pharmacists, as well as senior clinical pharmacy leaders, to strengthen clinical capability, promote best practice, and support safe, effective use of cancer medicines across the region.
In this role, you will:
- Lead and deliver regional clinical education, coaching, and onboarding for pharmacy staff working in cancer services
- Support future rotational pharmacist programmes and workforce development pipelines regionally
- Liaise across districts, facilitating shared learning and regionally consistent approaches to practice development
- Coach and mentor pharmacists using adult learning principles and evidence-based practice
- Work in partnership with regional clinical pharmacy leaders to develop shared education resources, tools, and clinical guidance
- Contribute to regional service improvement initiatives and clinical governance
- Provide periodic direct clinical service delivery, where required, to maintain clinical credibility and support agreed service pressures
You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including medical oncology, haematology, nursing, Allied Health, and Māori and Pacific health partners to support culturally safe, patient centred care.

About the Team/Service/ Location
The Pharmacy team at Te Toka Tumai Auckland is one of the largest and most dynamic in the country, with over 120 staff and a strong reputation for innovation, education, and advanced clinical practice. This role sits within the Te Toka Tumai (Auckland) Pharmacy & Medicines Management service and will work in close partnership with pharmacy teams across the Northern Region.
The role includes working across Northern Region sites, using a mix of in‑person (requiring travel) and virtual engagement.

You will be:
- A qualified pharmacist with NZ registration and a current Annual Practising Certificate
- Experienced in oncology and/or haematology pharmacy practice
- Skilled in clinical reasoning, medicines management, and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Experience or a strong interest in coaching, mentoring, and education
- Quick to pick up new concepts, with robust attention to detail
- Drive, enthusiasm and initiative with excellent organisational and inter-personal skills are essential
- A confident communicator with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
- Proactive, adaptable, and passionate about developing others
- Committed to equity, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and culturally safe practice
Postgraduate clinical or education qualifications and experience in mentoring or teaching are highly desirable.
