About the Role

The Interpreting Service, based at Manukau Health Park, provides interpreting services across all Counties Manukau district inpatient, outpatient, and community healthcare settings. We also support external agencies, including the Police, the Ministry of Justice, and other organisations, predominantly across the South Auckland region.

As part of our supportive and collaborative team, you will play a vital role in facilitating effective communication between healthcare professionals and patients, helping to ensure safe, high-quality care for our diverse communities.

Casual Opportunities

We are currently seeking casual interpreters for the following languages:

  • Assyrian/Arabic
  • Cook Islands
  • Hindi/Punjabi
  • Korean
  • Samoan
  • Tongan
  • Vietnamese

Permanent Opportunities

We also have the following permanent positions available:

  • Cook Islands Interpreter – Part-time (20 hours per week)
  • Samoan Interpreter – Full-time (40 hours per week)

The ideal candidates must be available to work Monday to Friday during business hours and be flexible to work at short notice, as required.

About You

The ideal candidates will need to have;

  • Completed a community course or interpreting qualification
  • Fluency in English and the relevant language listed above
  • Knowledge of the NZ healthcare system and/or medical terminology
  • Provide consecutive interpreting services via face to face, telephone and virtual remote interpreting
  • Able to demonstrate excellent customer service
