About the Role
As a Duty Manager, you will provide operational leadership across Hospital and Specialist Services after hours, ensuring the safe and effective delivery of patient care. You will play a critical role in managing patient flow, coordinating bed utilisation, responding to operational challenges, and supporting clinical and non clinical teams to maintain safe and efficient hospital operations.
This is a highly visible and rewarding leadership role where no two shifts are the same. You will act as the central point of coordination after hours, working closely with nursing, medical, allied health, and support services teams to manage risk, respond to emergencies, and support timely decision making. Your ability to think critically, communicate effectively, and remain calm under pressure will be essential in ensuring positive outcomes for patients, whānau, and staff.

About the Team/Service/ Location
The Integrated Operations Centre plays a key role in supporting the smooth operation of Hawke's Bay Hospital and ensuring patient care is delivered safely and efficiently across the organisation.
Based in Hastings, you will join a dedicated team focused on operational excellence, patient flow, and service coordination. You will work alongside clinical and operational leaders who are committed to delivering high quality healthcare and supporting positive outcomes for the Hawke's Bay community.

About you
As a Registered Nurse and experienced healthcare leader, you will bring:
- Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate.
- At least five years of recent acute clinical experience within a hospital setting.
- Postgraduate qualifications, or equivalent experience, with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Strong leadership, problem solving, and decision making skills in complex and fast paced environments.
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills, with the confidence to engage with staff, patients, whānau, and external agencies.
- Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- A current Core Advanced certificate and relevant clinical competencies.
- A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and improving equitable health outcomes for all communities.
