Specialty Clinical Nurse - Endoscopy

About the Role
The Clinical Nurse Specialist is an advanced nursing role and an expert in assessment skills, diagnostic reasoning, knowledge of management options and monitoring that underpins practice.
Primary Functions of this role include:
- Management of patients along the Fit for Symptomatic pathway
- Provision of pre-assessments of Endoscopy patients
- Support for the Clinical Nurse Specialist
- Development of a comprehensive plans for colonoscopy which includes bowel preparation, health literacy or translation support, risk management, patient and family/whanau expectations, medical management requirements and travel/accommodation support required
- Provide skilled nursing care through application of clinical knowledge and theory to nursing practice:
- Utilise professional knowledge and skill to provide a holistic approach to nursing care and assessments that is safe, of the highest quality possible and in accordance with:
- Te Whatu Ora policies
- Registered Nurse Scope of Practice
- Nursing Practice Standards
- Nursing Council of NZ Registered Nurse competencies
- NZ Nursing Council code of conduct

About the Location
The Endoscopy team at Whangarei Hospital is a dedicated and skilled group providing both acute and planned care, working collaboratively to deliver safe, patient-focused services in a dynamic clinical environment.
You will participate in the Endoscopy Unit Model of Care concept providing care at all stages of the patient journey in the Endoscopy Unit – pre and post op care, procedure room and recovery. We now specialise in ERCP, EBUS, EMR, ESD and bronchoscopy services in the endoscopy unit.

About you
- Registration with Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ) and holder of a current annual practicing certificate
- Current PDRP
- Post graduate diploma or working towards
- At least 5 years post graduate nursing experience
- Excellent clinical pre-assessment skills
- Knowledge of endoscopy procedures
- An awareness of current trends in nursing
- People orientated interests, planning of care based on the patients individual needs
- Good communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to practice in a culturally safe manner
