About the Role
As a Registered Nurse in Villa 1, you will provide safe, evidence ‑ based and patient‑centred care within the General Surgical, Vascular and Plastics Outpatients service.
You’ll undertake comprehensive patient assessments, deliver and evaluate nursing care, and support patients and whānau through their outpatient experience. A strong focus of the role includes wound assessment and management, patient education, and supporting minor procedures where required.
You will work closely with surgeons, nurses, allied health and administrative teams to ensure coordinated, high ‑ quality care. The role also involves maintaining accurate documentation, contributing to safe staffing practices such as TrendCare and VRM, and supporting students and new staff within the service.
This position is ideal for a nurse who enjoys variety, continuity of care, and working within a team focused on delivering excellent outpatient services.

About the Team/Service/ Location
You will be part of Villa 1 - General Surgical, Vascular and Plastics Outpatients, based in the Puawānanga Building at Hawke’s Bay Fallen Soldier Memorial Hospital.
The service works closely with inpatient wards, theatres, radiology and community providers to support patients across their surgical journey, delivering coordinated and patient‑centred care in a collaborative team environment.

About you
You are a capable and compassionate Registered Nurse with strong clinical skills and a focus on delivering quality care. You will have:
- Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a valid Annual Practising Certificate
- Clinical nursing experience within a surgical setting
- Sound wound care knowledge and experience
- Strong communication and time ‑ management skills
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and equitable health outcomes
Desired:
- A current PDRP portfolio
- Experience in general surgery, vascular or plastics outpatient services
- Experience with negative pressure wound therapy
- Experience supporting minor procedures or outpatient clinics
