About the Role

We have a fixed term position available for a Registered Nurse to join our haemodialysis satellite unit based at Whakatāne Hospital. This is a part-time position working 32 hours per week until February 2027.

The role offers a unique opportunity to deliver meaningful, holistic care to patients living with long-term kidney disease and complex health needs. You will work in a supportive, multidisciplinary team environment focused on achieving the best possible health outcomes for our patients and their whānau.

While previous renal nursing experience is desirable, it is not essential. What we are looking for is recent experience in medical nursing, a desire to grow professionally, and a strong team ethic. You will be fully supported to expand your clinical knowledge and develop renal-specific skills as part of a growing regional service.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Based in the beautiful Bay of Plenty, our Renal Service supports a wide range of patients through a nurse-led, patient-focused approach to care. The service is backed by a Clinical Nurse Manager and Nephrologists, with strong pathways for learning and professional development. You will be joining a team that values empathy, excellence, and equity – set against the backdrop of New Zealand's most stunning coastal regions.

About you

We seek committed and compassionate nurses with a strong grounding in medical nursing. You will be ready to step into a specialised setting, contribute to a close-knit team, and make a real difference in the lives of others.

What you will bring:

  • Current New Zealand Nursing Registration and Annual Practicing Certificate.
  • Recent medical nursing experience.
  • Renal nursing experience is desirable, but not essential.
  • Excellent clinical reasoning and communication skills.
  • A flexible, team-orientated approach and commitment to continuous learning.
