Registered Nurse - Maxillofacial/ENT

About the Role

As a Registered Nurse in the Maxillofacial & ENT Service, you will provide high‑quality, evidence‑based care across two specialised surgical areas: Maxillofacial and ENT (Head & Neck). This role offers real variety - from assisting with orthognathic and skin clinic procedures, to supporting facial trauma care, and coordinating timely treatment for head and neck cancer patients alongside the Clinical Nurse Specialist.

You’ll carry out comprehensive assessments, develop and implement care plans, and deliver interventions requiring strong clinical judgement and excellent communication. Your work will also involve supporting outpatient and procedure‑based services, ensuring seamless coordination across the patient journey, and contributing to best‑practice surgical care.

This role is ideal for a nurse who enjoys specialist skills, continuity of care, and working closely with multidisciplinary teams.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Based at Hawke’s Bay Fallen Soldier Memorial Hospital, our Maxillofacial and ENT teams are collaborative, skilled and passionate about delivering safe, culturally responsive patient care. You’ll work with surgeons, CNSs, allied health, and wider surgical nursing teams, all committed to supporting patients through both planned and acute surgical pathways.

About you

As a surgical Registered Nurse, you bring compassion, adaptability and excellent clinical decision‑making skills. You will have:

• Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a valid APC.
• Previous surgical experience.
• Strong clinical assessment skills and a commitment to patient safety.
• Confidence communicating across multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong time‑management and teamwork skills.
• Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and commitment to equitable care.

Desired:

• ENT, Maxillofacial or Head & Neck experience.
• Experience coordinating patient pathways.
• Outpatient or procedural‑based nursing experience.
