About the Role

As a Registered Nurse in the Children’s Ward at Whangarei Hospital you will make a meaningful difference every day by supporting tamariki and their whānau through vulnerable moments.

  • Provide skilled family-focused nursing care through the application of clinical knowledge and theory to nursing practice.
  • Demonstrate an ability to develop, evaluate and change care plans as required.
  • Identify and interpret changes in the neonates’/child’s condition and respond appropriately.
  • Competently performs clinical skills specific to area of practice.
  • Demonstrates awareness of the neonatal/child/family/whanau cultural and spiritual beliefs and values.

About the Team/Service/ Location

The Children’s Ward is located in the recently completed facilities in the Te Kotuku Building at Whangārei Hospital. This is a 22-bed paediatric ward and a 4-bed acute assessment unit providing care for medical, orthopaedic and surgical patients. The ward cares for children from birth through to their 16th birthday.

About you

  • New Zealand Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practicing Certificate
  • Minimum 1 year post graduate experience in a hospital setting
  • Initiative and motivation
  • Good team player and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent Communication

Experience in neonates/child health is desirable but not essential to apply.
