About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to join our team. This is a permanent part-time position, working 16 hours per fortnight, Monday to Friday. The days and hours are negotiable, and there are opportunities to pick up additional hours to support service needs.

In this varied and rewarding role, you will work closely with the Orthopaedic team under the direction and supervision of health professionals to deliver efficient, patient-focused services that support excellent clinical outcomes.

This role combines both clinical support and administrative responsibilities, contributing to a seamless and positive patient journey.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Booking patient appointments using the appropriate IT systems.
  • Ensuring assigned clinics are appropriately scheduled by liaising with relevant clinicians.
  • Checking that presenting patient details are recorded accurately.
  • Assisting with general reception tasks and working collaboratively with the wider reception team.
  • Undertaking delegated clinical tasks for which you are appropriately trained, including taking height and weight measurements, recording vital signs, performing electrocardiograms (ECGs), and checking blood sugar levels under the direct delegation of registered health professionals.

About You

You are organised, proactive, and passionate about delivering exceptional patient care. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and bring a strong balance of clinical capability, administrative skills, and excellent customer service.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A minimum Level 3 healthcare or administration-related qualification, or equivalent.
  • A minimum of one year's experience in a service-based or healthcare environment.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and teamwork skills.
  • Empathy and respect for all individuals, with the ability to support others
