About the Role
We are seeking expressions of interest from New Graduate Physiotherapists to join our team at Health New Zealand – Waitematā end of 2025/start of 2026.
Waitematā provides a great opportunity to start your physiotherapy career in an engaging, fun and supportive learning environment.
The rotational programme gives you the opportunity to participate in a wide range of clinical settings to further develop your skills and competencies in physiotherapy assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and discharge planning across North Shore, Waitakere Hospital and Wilson Centre sites.

- Full time work (80 hours/fortnight)
- Development of core physiotherapy skills through a rotational programme

About the Team/Service/ Location
This programme gives you the opportunity to participate in a wide range of clinical settings to further develop your undergraduate skills and competencies in physiotherapy assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and discharge planning.
We offer a two-tier rotational scheme within Health New Zealand / Te Whatu Ora – Waitematā at three sites across the district.
Core 1 rotational positions are 4 months long and offer experience in:
- Acute medical
- Respiratory
- Acute surgical
- Acute trauma and elective orthopaedic
- Older Adult Assessment Treatment & Rehabilitation (AT&R)
Core 2 rotational positions are 8 months long and in addition to the above also offer experience in:
- ED / ADU
- ICU / HDU
- Acute stroke unit
- Outpatients – MSK, Respiratory, Neuro, Vestibular
- Trauma Orthopaedics
- Neurological rehabilitation
- Early Supported Discharge and Rehabilitation Service (Community based rehabilitation)
- Paediatric rehabilitation at the Wilson Centre (the national paediatric rehabilitation provider)
About you
As a Rotational Physiotherapist you should have:
- Professional Registration and be eligible for an Annual Practicing Certificate with the Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand
- Excellent clinical reasoning skills and use of evidence informed practice
- A flexible and pro-active approach
- Effective time management, organisation and prioritisation skills
