About the Role

As the General Manager – Quality, Risk and Patient Safety, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for quality improvement, clinical governance, risk management, infection prevention and control, patient safety, consumer feedback, and regulatory compliance across the district.

As a key member of the senior leadership team, you will work closely with clinical and operational leaders to strengthen organisational performance, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and ensure high-quality, equitable care. This role offers the opportunity to lead a specialist team, influence system - wide initiatives, and drive the delivery of programmes that improve patient outcomes, reduce harm, and support excellence in healthcare delivery.

About the Team/Service/ Location

The Quality, Risk and Patient Safety team provides organisation - wide leadership and support for clinical governance, quality improvement, patient safety, risk management, consumer engagement, infection prevention and control, and regulatory compliance. Based in Hawke’s Bay, you will work alongside experienced clinical and operational leaders committed to delivering safer, higher - quality healthcare for our communities.

About you

As an experienced senior healthcare leader, you will bring:

  • A relevant tertiary clinical qualification and postgraduate qualification in quality, patient safety, clinical governance, health service management, or a related field
  • Significant experience leading quality improvement, patient safety, risk, or clinical governance programmes within complex healthcare environments
  • Strong strategic leadership, stakeholder engagement, and change management capability
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and relationship - building skills
  • A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, equity, and improving outcomes for Māori, whānau, and communities
