About the Role
As the District Efficiency Improvement Lead, you will lead the District's Efficiency Improvement Programme, providing governance, oversight, reporting, and strategic support to ensure improvement initiatives deliver measurable and sustainable outcomes.
Working within the Office of the Group Director Operations, you will partner with clinical and operational leaders to identify opportunities for improvement, establish robust performance frameworks, and support the successful delivery of complex programmes and projects. You will provide strategic analysis, programme assurance, and performance reporting to inform decision making and drive organisational priorities.
This is a highly visible leadership role requiring strong stakeholder engagement skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to influence change across a large and complex healthcare environment. You will work across services, divisions, and leadership teams to improve productivity, strengthen performance monitoring, and support the delivery of high quality, equitable healthcare services.

About the Team/Service/ Location
Based within the Office of the Group Director Operations, this role works closely with District, Regional, and National leaders to drive operational improvement and organisational performance. You will collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders including General Managers, Clinical Directors, Operations Managers, Finance teams, and Regional Improvement Leads to support the achievement of strategic objectives across Hospital and Specialist Services.

About you
As an experienced improvement and programme leader, you will bring:
- A relevant tertiary or professional qualification
- A recognised project or programme management qualification such as PRINCE2, PMI, or Agile
- Significant experience leading complex programmes and improvement initiatives within large organisations
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate data into meaningful insights and actions
- Experience in performance reporting, programme governance, and stakeholder management
- Excellent communication, influencing, and relationship building skills
- A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, equity, and improving outcomes for Māori and all communities
- The ability to work effectively in a complex environment, balancing multiple priorities and driving sustainable change through collaboration and leadership
