About the Role
We’re looking for a detail-oriented and customer-focused Elective Booking Coordinator to join our Outpatient and Surgical Services team at Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, Hawke’s Bay.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for managing outpatient and surgical bookings, maintaining waiting lists, and coordinating elective surgery schedules in line with national standards and Ministry of Health targets.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring patients are booked in order of priority, clinic and theatre utilisation is maximised, and all data is accurately entered into the patient management system.
This is a fast-paced role that requires strong communication skills, a proactive approach, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred service.
About the Team/Service/ Location
You’ll be based at Hawke’s Bay Fallen Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, working within the Administration Services team and reporting to the Booking Manager.
You’ll collaborate closely with booking coordinators, outpatient staff, nurses, consultants, and other clinical and administrative teams to ensure smooth scheduling and coordination of care.

About you
To thrive in this role, you will bring:
- Previous booking and scheduling experience, ideally within a healthcare setting.
- Excellent communication skills and a professional telephone manner.
- Strong customer service focus and cultural awareness.
- High level of computer literacy, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and data entry.
- Ability to build effective relationships and work as part of a team.
- A positive attitude with a problem-solving focus.
- Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and equity-focused practice.
- Desired: Experience using the ECA patient management system and knowledge of Elective Services systems and principles.
