Clinical Nurse Specialist – Stoma/Continence

About the Role

This position is based in District Nursing Service and is full time providing support and assessment in Continence and Stomal Therapy.

Nurses interested in the role must have a minimum of 5 years postgraduate experience in either acute or community setting. Experience in Continence and Colorectal surgery and Certification as a Stomal Therapist would be an advantage. Applicants must be highly motivated and able to manage a varying workload.

About the Team/Service/ Location

The District Nurse team incorporates Registered Nurses, Nursing Assistants, alongside the client and their family, using generalist and specialist skills to provide holistic care in the home and community. The team emphasizes a restorative, socio-ecological approach, recognizing social determinants of health, and functions as an intermediary between hospital and community care, providing transitional care and enabling self-care.

About you

  • Have a minimum of 5 year’s postgraduate experience in either acute or communities
  • Experience incontinence and colorectal surgery
  • Certification as a Stomal Therapist (desirable)
  • New Zealand Nursing Council Registration as Designated Nurse Prescriber
  • Current Annual Practising Certificate with the New Zealand Nursing Council
  • Leadership experience within the clinical setting
  • Hold a current driver’s licence for both manual and automatic vehicles
  • Proficiency in tikanga Maori and te reo Maori (desirable)
