About the Role

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will provide expert nursing care, leadership, and education to support the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based NIV care across the inpatient and acute hospital setting. This role combines direct clinical care with a strong focus on supporting and educating other health professionals to optimise patient management throughout the diagnostic and treatment journey.

You will play a key leadership role in driving innovative practice to enhance patient flow, improve patient safety, and ensure best practice NIV care for people across the lifespan. About you

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you are an experienced and clinically credible senior nurse who is passionate about delivering high-quality, evidence-based care and improving patient outcomes. You thrive in a collaborative environment and are confident working autonomously while supporting and influencing others through education and clinical leadership. You will ideally bring:

  • Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate
    • Significant clinical experience in acute care and/or respiratory nursing, with demonstrated expertise in Non-Invasive Ventilation
    • A relevant postgraduate qualification at postgraduate certificate or diploma level (or working towards), with a commitment to ongoing professional development
    • Proven ability to provide clinical leadership, mentorship, and education to nursing and multidisciplinary colleagues
    • Strong assessment, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making skills across complex patient presentations
    • Experience contributing to service development, quality improvement initiatives, and the implementation of evidence-based practice
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and support patient- and whānau-centred care
    • A commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and to reducing inequities in health outcomes
