About the Role
The Clinical Nurse Specialist will utilise specialist nursing knowledge and skills to provide patient focused care and coordination that will optimise the patient’s journey, improve health outcomes and ensure that an excellent quality of care is provided.
The Radiology Department at Whangarei Hospital offers the opportunity for a Clinical Nurse Specialist to lead, influence and elevate nursing practice within a multidisciplinary environment.
Working across key imaging modalities including CT, Ultrasound, Diagnostic Breast imaging and MRI, you will provide expert nursing input that enhances patient experience, supports staff development, and strengthens clinical governance.
This role offers autonomy, influence, and the opportunity to lead quality initiatives while working closely with radiologists, radiographers, nurses, and allied health colleagues across Whangārei Hospital.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Provide clinical leadership for the nursing team and other staff
- Provide expert clinical advice, information and education to patients, families/whanau and staff
- Lead quality improvement initiatives within the ward/unit/department

About you
- New Zealand Registered Nurse with current annual practicing certificate
- Relevant PG Diploma in speciality area
- Designated Senior Nurse PDRP or Expert PDRP (demonstrating clinical examples)
- At least 7 years post registration experience with at least 3 of those in relevant specialty area
- IV cannulation experience
- Computer literacy
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated initiative and the ability to prioritise
- The ability to work autonomously and harmoniously within a multidisciplinary team
