About the Role

This position is responsible for the provision of clinical expertise and leadership for an identified team. This role will manage the day-to-day requirements of the service delivery ensuring that delivery contributes to a better patient experience and health outcomes and is in line with organisational requirements. The Clinical Charge Nurse will ensure communication with the team is in line with the vision and values of Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand Te Tai Tokerau.

The primary purpose of this role is to provide clinical support, expertise, knowledge and leadership within the ward/department to ensure quality patient/turoro/tangata whai ora care.

About you

You will be an experienced Critical Care nurse with a positive and professional approach, ability to work calmly under pressure, with the emotional intelligence and experience to manage and support the clinical nursing team across clinical shifts. You will role model the values of the organisation as you support and manage the nursing team over designated shifts 24/7. 

  • Registration with Nursing Council of New Zealand and holder of a current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC)
  • Postgraduate certificate/diploma in speciality nursing practice
  • Minimum of five years’ experience post registration in relevant nursing specialty
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in delegation and supervision of nurses
  • Leadership and patient/client management skills
  • Sound understanding of professional ethics
