About the Role

As a Customer Support Agent, you’ll be the central point of contact for anyone reaching out to Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Hawke’s Bay. This telephone‑based role operates within a 24/7 environment, supporting both internal teams and members of the public with a range of enquiries.

You’ll handle incoming calls, manage critical alarms, respond to emergency requests, and initiate internal or civil emergency processes when needed. Every shift brings variety - from routine service calls to supporting the coordination of emergency responses across hospital operations. This is a key role that ensures clear communication, timely response, and smooth functioning of essential services.

About the Team/Service/ Location

You’ll be part of the Service Hub Call Centre team, a tight‑knit and supportive group that plays a crucial role in keeping hospital and community operations running efficiently. The team works closely with duty managers, security, emergency management, clinical areas, and external service providers to ensure accurate communication and coordinated responses.

Based in Hawke’s Bay, the team operates around the clock, providing a high‑quality, customer‑focused service that supports staff, patients, and the wider community.

About you

You’ll be someone who brings a calm, professional presence and thrives in a role where excellent communication and problem‑solving matter. You will have:

  • NCEA Level 2 or equivalent.
  • Proven customer service skills, ideally in a busy or service‑focused environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow established processes.
  • A positive, solutions‑focused attitude and the ability to adapt your communication style to different situations.
  • Confidence working with multiple systems and recording accurate information.
  • An understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a commitment to culturally safe and equitable service delivery.
