About the Service
The New Zealand Female Pelvic Mesh Service (NZFPMS) is a new, national service delivered through two hubs:
- Northern Hub - hosted by Te Whatu Ora Waitematā
- Southern Hub - hosted by Te Whatu Ora Waitaha Canterbury
This service provides comprehensive, trauma-informed, interdisciplinary care for women across Aotearoa experiencing complications related to pelvic mesh.
Care is delivered flexibly across hospital, outpatient, and virtual settings to ensure support is accessible, coordinated, and responsive to each woman’s needs.
This part‑time role sits within the Northern Hub and has potential for future growth.
About the Role
We are seeking an Advanced Clinician in Pelvic Health Physiotherapy to join our Auckland‑based team and deliver expert care to women affected by pelvic mesh complications from across New Zealand.
You will work with complex pelvic health presentations including mesh‑related injury, chronic pain, and functional recovery. Care is delivered through a combination of in‑person clinics, virtual appointments, and collaboration with local providers to ensure continuity and accessibility for women and their whānau.
This role also contributes to shaping the systems, processes, and quality frameworks that will support the long‑term success of this first‑of‑its‑kind national service. Flexible working arrangements are available, including remote work alongside hospital and outpatient delivery.
Key Responsibilities
· Expert clinical care — Provide advanced pelvic health physiotherapy for women with complex pelvic mesh complications.
· Interdisciplinary collaboration — Work closely with urology, gynaecology, colorectal surgery, Clinical Nurse Specialists, and Allied Health colleagues.
· Service development — Lead and contribute to quality improvement, audit, research, and national service development.
· Autonomous and team practice — Work independently while contributing to a skilled physiotherapy team.
· Mentorship and supervision — Support, supervise, and mentor physiotherapists and students.
· Trauma‑informed and culturally safe practice — Uphold Te Tiriti o Waitangi and model culturally safe, patient‑centred care.

About You
- New Zealand registered Physiotherapist with a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC).
- Minimum 6 years’ post-registration experience, including 2+ years in complex female pelvic health (ideally with women affected by pelvic mesh complications).
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills, with the confidence in managing complex presentations.
- Demonstrated leadership, mentorship, and experience in service development or quality improvement.
- Commitment to equity, trauma-informed care, and empowering women and their whanau.
- Full, clean driver’s licence.
