About the Role

·         Gain ICU exposure at an introductory level.  SHO positions in both NSH and CVICU can count as your foundation term prior to entering the CICM training programme

 

About the Team/Service/ Location

·         NSH is a busy general ICU allows an opportunity to gain exposure to the field of critical care, whilst being well supported by a welcoming and friendly team of specialists, registrars, nurses and allied health workers.

·         CVICU provide care to patients following cardiothoracic surgery and heart and lung transplantation,  cardiology patients requiring intensive care, as well as all patients in New Zealand who require mechanical cardiac and respiratory support

About you
 

·         Required experience: 24 months completed House Officer runs

·         Preferred: some exposure to acute care and a commitment to ICM training

 

Please note:

·         Both the NSH and CVICU run is only for a 6 months duration. It is expected that (subject to satisfactory performance) SHOs will progress into either their first ICM registrar position, or in selected circumstances, into an Anaesthesia SHO position. Candidates wishing to do this will need to apply for these positions at the same time as your SHO application, and progression would be subject to these applications being successful.
