About the Role
We’re looking for a Molecular Lead to work in our Microbiology Department.
This role is responsible for providing appropriate and timely molecular testing, working in conjunction with the Microbiology Service Lead and laboratory pathologist. You will manage the development, verification, validation and implementation of molecular platforms and tests at Waitematā District. Additionally, you will provide training and oversight of our laboratory scientists and technicians, ensuring standards and competencies are met.

About you
To be considered for this role, you’ll have the following:
- A current annual practising certificate as a laboratory scientist
- NZ registered Medical Laboratory Scientist in Microbiology and/or Molecular Qualification
- Ability to assist with staff training and supervise work carried out by Laboratory Technicians/Assistants or graduate trainees
- A minimum of five years Molecular work in a hospital setting
- Experience in an acute 24/7 hospital laboratory
- Experience in the development and introduction of Molecular tests
- Exposure to the Implementation of Molecular platforms
- Ability to write laboratory process documentation
You will need to be motivated and focused with well-developed computer skills and an interest in researching and introducing new technology.
