Team Leader or Charge Nurse Manager - Crisis, Assessment and Home Treatment team

About the Role

As a Charge Nurse Manager (CNM) or Team Leader (TL),  you will lead a multi-disciplinary team (clinical and non-clinical roles) within the Hamilton community that fosters a culture of mutual respect, safe practice and acknowledges contributions from both cultural and clinical perspectives.

You will play an essential role in creating partnerships with Maaori across all levels including taangata whaiora, whaanau, Maaori staff and the Takawaenga team.

Key responsibilities:

• Build and maintain a high performing team that upholds the culture, values, mission and vision of the service.
• Engage and work collaboratively with all stakeholders, particularly taangata whaiora and whaanau.
• Foster a culture of openness and quality improvement, with taangata whaiora and whaanau at the centre
• Manage the systems, processes and resources that enable staff to meet the needs of the taangata whaiora in an efficient and effective manner.

About the Team/Service

The CAHT is a community based service providing rapid assessment, crisis intervention, and short-term treatment for individuals experiencing acute mental health challenges. The team works collaboratively with emergency services, whaanau, and a range of community and inpatient services to ensure people in distress receive timely and effective support.

The CAHT CNM/TL manages and leads the following teams:

• Crisis Team (24/7)  Includes a dedicated night nurse based in the Waikato Emergency Department
• Home-Based Treatment Team  Providing community-based care as an alternative to hospital admission
• Crisis Follow Up Team  Offering short term follow-up care post-crisis
• Police Co-Response Team  Working alongside NZ Police to provide joint intervention
• Consult Liaison Psychiatry- providing mental health assessment and advice to the inpatient wards and outpatient clinics based at the Waikato Hospital
• Emergency Department Crisis Clinician-  working night shift in the Waikato Hospital ED

About you

As a Charge Nurse Manager / Team Leader, you will need to be able to demonstrate the following:

• A registered health professional with a current annual practicing certificate.
• A minimum of 5 years post graduate experience in a mental health setting.
• An understanding of clinical governance and evidence-based practice.
• Highly developed interpersonal communication and negotiation skills including demonstrated ability to build productive working relationships with colleagues to achieve required outcomes.
• Ability to take a proactive role with other organisations to achieve sustainable outcomes for taangata whaiora.
• Ability to display initiative and resourcefulness that will allow you to navigate the variety of challenges you could face
• A current full drivers licence.
• Experience in leadership roles is an advantage
