We have an exciting opportunity to join our SLT team as a casual employee. This role gives the right candidate the opportunity to be part of our vibrant and skilled speech and language therapy team at Waitemata. As a casual team member you have the benefit of flexibility and the opportunity to share and/or build on your experience within different teams. This casual role is highly suited to parents with children or those in part-time study, where daycare or school/university hours can be accommodated and flexibility with dates of work are desired.

We are looking for SLTs with enthusiasm, a focus on evidence-informed practice and preferably some previous experience with acquired communication and swallowing difficulties.
You would be joining a forward thinking team of SLTs who work across North Shore and Waitakere Hospitals. Areas of work the SLT team cover include:
- our early supported discharge team working with whānau in their own homes
- community teams
- Our inpatient sites, which include our brand new 150-bed hospital, Totara Haumaru, on our North Shore site, and Manaaki Hōhonu, a new medical ward and planned high dependency unit currently being completed at Waitakere site.
Our SLT team is supportive, and our culture of openness and shared learning is strong. You would work in partnership with the SLT team, a senior SLTs, an SLT advanced clinician, the SLT Clinical Leader and SLT Professional Clinical Leader.

About you
Key skills required:
- Relevant clinical skillset to support working in an inpatient/post-acute rehab
- Exposure to or ideally competence in instrumental swallowing assessment (VFSS and / or FEES)
- Competence in assessment and provision of therapeutic intervention for patients with communication difficulties.
- Ability to manage a daily caseload
- Ability to participate in service development and quality project work
Commitment to evidence-informed practice and holistic patient care.
