About the Role

As a Community Cardiology Specialty Clinical Nurse, you will provide advanced cardiology nursing care across community settings in the Waikato. This role supports patients with complex cardiac conditions, enabling timely assessment, monitoring, education, and intervention outside of the acute hospital environment.

Working with a high level of autonomy, you will utilise your specialist cardiology or cardiothoracic knowledge to assess patients, troubleshoot clinical issues, and manage your own caseload. This is an ideal role for an experienced nurse who thrives in a dynamic environment, enjoys problem solving, and is committed to delivering equitable, patient centred care closer to home.

Key responsibilities:
• Provide specialist cardiology nursing assessment and management in community settings
• Monitor and support patients with complex cardiac conditions, escalating care as required
• Educate patients and whānau to support self management and improved health outcomes
• Work collaboratively with cardiologists, cardiac technicians, allied health, and primary care teams
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to service development and quality improvement

About the Team/Service
Our Community Cardiology team delivers specialist cardiac care across the Waikato, working closely with hospital based services and primary care to improve access, continuity, and outcomes for people living with heart disease.

 

About you

As a Community Cardiology Specialty Clinical Nurse, you will bring strong clinical expertise and the ability to work independently while remaining connected to a wider team. You will have:
• Significant experience as a cardiology or cardiothoracic nurse
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, self manage workload, and prioritise effectively
• Strong clinical judgement with the ability to troubleshoot and respond to complex situations
• An agile learning mindset and commitment to ongoing professional development
• Excellent communication skills and a patient focused, culturally safe approach to care
