About the Role

As the Radiology Service Manager, you will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of the Radiology Department, working in close partnership with the Service Clinical Director and Clinical Support Services leadership.

You will be accountable for the day‑to‑day management of the service and for ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and performance are maintained across all areas of operation. This includes responsibility for service planning, performance monitoring, financial management, people leadership, quality improvement and risk management.

Key areas of focus include:

  • Providing strong operational and people leadership across a multidisciplinary Radiology workforce
  • Ensuring safe, efficient and consumer‑focused service delivery aligned with organisational priorities
  • Oversight of service performance, including waiting list management and reporting against key performance indicators
  • Financial accountability, including budget management and contribution to capital planning and equipment lifecycle processes
  • Leading quality improvement activity and ensuring compliance with relevant standards, legislation, policies and regulatory requirements
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with radiologists, clinical services, and internal and external stakeholders

About the Team/Service

Te Toka Tumai Auckland is committed to delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred diagnostic imaging services to our community. Our Radiology Department operates across a range of modern imaging modalities, including MRI, CT, Ultrasound and General X‑ray, and plays a critical role in supporting inpatient, outpatient, and emergency care services.

The service is multidisciplinary and highly collaborative, working closely with radiologists, medical radiation technologists, nursing, clerical and wider clinical teams to ensure safe, timely and effective imaging services that support positive patient and whānau outcomes.

About you

You are a confident operational leader who can balance service delivery, people leadership, and financial stewardship in a fast-paced, complex healthcare environment. You bring strong communication skills, sound judgement, and a quality-focused mindset, and you build credibility through your ability to partner effectively with clinical and operational stakeholders.

Essential:

  • Relevant qualification as an MRT or similar, with evidence of ongoing learning
  • Relevant clinical experience at a management level
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Computer literacy
  • Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how to apply it in a health setting
  • Understanding of obligations under the Privacy Act 2020 / Health Information Privacy Code 2020 and Health and Safety at Work Act 2015

Desirable:

  • Experience in a Radiology setting
  • Knowledge and experience of human resource management, including performance management processes
  • Budget management experience
  • Postgraduate study (completed or working towards)
