About the Role
Medical Laboratory Science is a fast pace and dynamic discipline. We are looking for an experienced Medical Laboratory Scientist with leadership skills who is ready to step up and become a leader in our organisation. We have an opportunity for you to grow your career in a leadership role and play an integral role in managing the daily functioning of the lab unit with high efficiency and quality output.
In this role you will responsible for the coordination, operational delivery and technical support of the Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) and Business Support at LabPlus. This includes developing new business opportunities in clinical trials and research. You will manage the Clinical Trials team, ensuring the team has the capabilities and resilience to provide an effective service and coordinate all aspects of the clinical trial process to ensure client and quality standards are met.

Reporting to the Business and Contracts Manager this role will work alongside Scientist Unit Managers when supporting laboratory diagnostic work is required.

About the Team/Service/ Location
Te Toka Tumai Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is the most specialised tertiary and quaternary medical referral laboratory in New Zealand. It has a history of scientific and clinical excellence and provides local, regional and national services in Anatomical, Clinical and Forensic Pathology as well as services to the Pacific Islands. We offer an extensive analytical pathology service in Chemical Pathology, Haematology, Microbiology, Virology and Immunology, National Testing Centre for Newborn Screening, Forensic Pathology, Anatomical Pathology and Diagnostic Genetics. We hold a number of contracts for the reference pathology testing for all of New Zealand.

About you
You will be an experienced Medical Laboratory Scientist with current registration with the Medical Sciences Council of NZ. Ideally, you will also have a post graduate qualification in health, general management, business or quality assurance.
You will be familiar with laboratory clinical trials and processes and will have a working knowledge of laboratory systems within the health sector including IANZ and Quality certification, IT systems, data management and health and safety requirements. You will have experience working in a diagnostic medical laboratory with a proven track record of managing a team and will be able to demonstrate working knowledge of process improvement/project management systems. You will have an understanding of commercial and financial systems and proficient in costing models. You will be adept at relationship building and will enjoy organising people and resources, juggling responsibilities and achieving demanding yet exciting goals.
