  • Exciting opportunity available, for Senior Occupational Therapist, looking for a permanent part time role 0.2 FTE (8 hours/ week) to be part of the New Zealand Female Pelvic Mesh Service, Northern hub.

About the Role

In collaboration with the New Zealand Female Pelvic Mesh Service, we have an exciting and innovative opportunity to build a specialist IDT who will coordinate and provide support to women who have experienced significant complications from Pelvic Mesh Implants. The role is 0.2 FTE or 8 hours per week, ideally this work will need to be flexible in nature, offering inter disciplinary team (IDT) professionals’ options for in reaching to hospital and outpatient services to support the women attending clinics with pre- and post-operative care, attending face to face multi-disciplinary meetings with IDT and Surgical teams, as well as the opportunity for some remote work (preferably Auckland based). We are seeking Occupational Therapists who are experienced in the impact of physical health complications, emotional distress, and pain on occupational performance.

We are looking for innovative senior clinicians to establish, report on, and develop systems and processes for the long term success of this service.

About the Team/Service/ Location

The New Zealand Female Pelvic Mesh Service is a new national service delivered from two hubs, Northern and Southern, with Waitematā District being the host for the Northern hub covering all of the North Island. An IDT approach will coordinate the service delivery for women and their whānau to determine the best possible treatment options whilst linking in with appropriate home-based services around the North Island. The service will be staffed by a wide range of medical and allied health practitioners delivering holistic patient centred care for women who have experienced significant complications from pelvic mesh implants and are eligible for free health and disability care in New Zealand, irrespective of their eligibility for Treatment Injury cover with Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC).

About you

· New Zealand registered Occupational Therapist with a current APC

· 5 – 6+ Years of postgraduate experience, including a minimum of 2 years working in a community or Physical Health setting with complex presentations relating to occupational performance limitations for occupational therapy

· Experience working directly and in collaboration with surgeons/ medical teams & engaging in an MDT environment

· Experience in leading and implementing service development and quality improvement projects

· To provide patient and whānau-centred, evidenced-based approach to Occupational Therapy assessment, management and treatment options

· The ability to work autonomously within both a team of experienced Allied Health Professionals and in isolation

· Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, self-motivated and reliable

· The ability to facilitate interdisciplinary teamwork

· Ability to lead, support, mentor and/or supervise staff

· Strong clinical assessment skills, great communication and fast thinking

· Full and clean driver’s license
