About the Role

As a Rostering Coordinator, you will join our centralised rostering service team based at Waikato Hospital. Working with clinical managers, you will create rosters for frontline nursing and midwifery clinical services.

In this role, you will provide expertise to other services developing effective rostering practices and tools. Although the process is well established, each roster cycle brings unique logistical challenges that require problem‑solving to produce balanced, high‑quality rosters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the information for the portfolio of services for which each rostering coordinator is responsible.
  • Create a roster every four weeks for each service, taking into account service needs, staff requests, employment conditions and good rostering practice.
  • Work collaboratively to develop professional relationships with senior clinical managers to support the rostering process and roster creation.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to the organisation on rostering practices and the effective use of rostering tools and techniques.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement – both individually and as a team – to enhance our effectiveness and strengthen the quality of our rosters, tools, and processes.
