About the Role
As a Roster Office Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in managing and coordinating the placement of casual and relief staff across Hawke’s Bay Hospital. You’ll be the central point of contact for staffing enquiries, ensuring clinical areas receive the right people at the right time to maintain safe and high‑quality care.
Each day will bring variety - from responding to staffing requests, verifying staff availability, and allocating placements, to managing roster updates, maintaining accurate data, and supporting smooth operations within the Integrated Operations Centre. You will also ensure clear, professional communication across teams and uphold privacy, cultural safety and organisational standards in all interactions.
This casual role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, enjoys working with people, and brings strong administrative and customer service skills to a critical hospital function.

About the Team/Service/ Location
The Integrated Operations Centre is at the heart of hospital operations, ensuring the safe, effective and coordinated flow of staff and resources. You will work with Clinical Nurse Managers, Duty Nurse Managers, administrative staff, health care assistants and clinical teams across multiple services.

About you
You are a confident, organised and customer‑focused communicator who can multitask effectively and build strong relationships. You will have:
- NCEA Level 2.
- Customer service experience.
- Experience with systems or data entry, ideally within roster or payroll systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong phone etiquette and the ability to engage with a wide range of people.
- Flexibility, adaptability and the ability to work in a fast‑changing environment.
- A helpful, approachable manner and commitment to great customer service.
- Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and commitment to equitable outcomes.
Desired:
- Experience working in the health sector as a nurse or health assistant.
- Experience applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice.
