Our Organisation:

Health NZ Counties Manukau is a dynamic and progressive organisation at the forefront of innovative health care delivery within the New Zealand Public Health Sector. We continue to work with others to achieve equity in key health indicators for Maaori, Pacific and communities with health disparities and will continue to develop and implement plans, based on local needs to improve the health and wellbeing of Counties Manukau region. Our main sites are Middlemore Hospital, Kidz First Hospital and Manukau Health Park.

We are part of Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, the overarching organisation for New Zealand’s national health service. HNZ leads the day-to-day running of the health system, with functions delivered at local, district, regional and national levels.

About the role:

Tiaho Mai is the acute adult mental health inpatient unit situated in the grounds of Middlemore Hospital at Health NZ Counties Manukau. We provide care for people from Otahuhu to Mercer, coast to coast, including Kaiaua and Port Waikato who are admitted into a hospital setting with mental health challenges during a crisis.

Our team is committed to multidisciplinary, trauma-informed, culturally responsive and evidence-based care. We support each other, learn from each other, and share a genuine dedication to providing the best outcomes for whaiora and their whaanau.

Joining Tiaho Mai means becoming part of a team where your professional growth matters. You will work alongside colleagues who value collaboration, open communication, and a recovery-focused approach. Your ideas, experience, and judgement will be respected and encouraged.

We are now looking for a NZ Registered Mental Health Nurse with a depth of experience and strong nursing skills. We are looking for a dynamic nurse to provide effective acute inpatient treatment, reflect recovery principles, and incorporate patient-centred carer support whilst maintaining a safe environment. You will work across our High Dependency Wards and Low Dependency Wards as part of a workforce passionate about supporting each other to develop comprehensive acute skills in all acute adult inpatient settings.

Already we have made some significant changes in the way we work, which are having a positive impact on service user experience. Our focus is on developing strong multidisciplinary teams who work within an integrated model of care in conjunction with the community services and we believe that our nurses are at the heart of these teams.

This is a great opportunity to make a significant difference to the lives of people in the Counties Manukau area while developing your own personal and professional practice.

Salaries are based on the PSA Mental Health & Public Health Nursing Collective Agreement, Registered Nurse Scale.
