Registered Nurse – Clinical Immunology and Allergy.

Temporary 0.4 FTE for 12 months

We are looking for an enthusiastic Registered Nurse to join our Specialist Nursing team within the Immunology Day ward.

Under the Community Long Term Conditions Directorate at Te Toka Tumai, the Auckland Immunology Service provides specialist and individualised care, education and advice to people and their whanau with allergic, autoimmune and Immune deficiencies. Care is in alignment with Te Tiriti o Waitangi values and provided in outpatient setting. We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Registered Nurse to join our established multidisciplinary team. Key Responsibilities of Immunology Nurses:

· Patient Assessment:

Evaluating patients' immune system health and identifying potential problems. 

· Treatment Administration:

Administering immunotherapies, such as immunoglobulin replacement therapy, and other treatments as needed. 

· Monitoring and Evaluation:

Closely observing patients for responses to treatment and reporting any adverse reactions to physicians. 

· Patient and Family Education:

Providing information about immune system disorders, treatment options, and how to manage symptoms at home. 

· Guidance and Support:

Offering guidance on lifestyle changes, managing side effects, and preventing complications associated with their condition. 

Areas of Focus:

· Allergies:

Managing and treating allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, and providing desensitization therapy. 

· Autoimmune Diseases:

Caring for patients with autoimmune disorders. 

· Immune Deficiencies:

Providing treatment and care for patients with primary and secondary immunodeficiencies. 

· Other Immunologic Disorders:

Managing a range of other immune system-related conditions.

In this role you will be based at Auckland City Hospital, in General Outpatients, your focus will be to perform range of clinical duties in the management of patients with allergies and immune deficiencies to provide holistic, equitable and culturally appropriate patient-centred care, empowering patients to manage their healthcare journey. You will assess and deliver evidence-based education and care and demonstrate ability to work autonomously using evidence-based knowledge and skills.

Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills

• Has at least two years post graduate experience.

• Has IV cannulation experience is desirable but not essential

• Has a commitment to working in action with Te Tiriti o Waitangi to achieve equitable outcomes for Māori and Pasific.

· Ability to build relationships with patients and colleagues from all backgrounds.

• Has an Interest in working towards postgraduate qualification.
