About the Role

We are currently offering a fixed-term, part-time opportunity (0.6 FTE) for a Registered Nurse to join our Acute Pain Service (APS) within the Perioperative Unit.

As part of this team, you will deliver high-quality nursing care to surgical patients, focusing on pre- and post-operative pain management. The role spans from preparing patients mentally and physically for surgery to monitoring their post-operative recovery and pain levels.

You’ll work rostered and rotating shifts as part of a collaborative, high-performing team committed to excellent patient outcomes.

About the Team/Service/ Location

The Perioperative Unit employs staff across six areas:

  • Operating Theatres
  • Day of Surgery Admissions (DOSA)
  • Pre-Admission
  • Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU)
  • Sterile Services
  • Anaesthesia Unit

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team in the Acute Pain Service, working closely with expert clinicians who are passionate about providing top-quality care. We are proud of our team diversity and strong, supportive culture.

About you

We are looking for a compassionate and motivated Registered Nurse who brings:

  • A current practising certificate with the Nursing Council of New Zealand, with evidence of meeting continuing competence requirements
  • Progress toward, or completion of, a portfolio assessed via an approved Professional Development Recognition Programme (PDRP)
  • At least two years of clinical nursing experience – prior experience in perioperative care or pain management is advantageous
  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary environment
