Radiation Therapy Planning Trainer

About the Role
As a Radiation Therapy Planning Trainer, you will provide a training programme that introduces both staff and student RTs to the department’s planning procedures and clinical workflows; utilising software applications including RayStation and Aria.
The role is responsible for:
• Training for ongoing staff roster changes
• A program to train and supervise staff with limited scopes of practice
• Updating training plans and programs
• Providing a training program for student RTs and ensuring student performance plans are in place and progress is regularly monitored in line with the University of Otago curriculum
• Orientation of multi-disciplinary staff to planning workflows
• Training project work to implement new clinical techniques, equipment and clinical workflows
- FTE is available as a fixed term 2-year secondment, indicatively starting in May 2025.

About the Team / Service / Location
Our team of Radiation Therapy Trainers provide training and coaching for Radiation Therapists practicing in specific clinical areas by implementing training plans and credentialing processes. This ensures patients receive best practice, evidence-based treatment, aligned with department policies and procedures.
About You
As a Planning Trainer, you will:
• Have sound knowledge of planning techniques utilised by Te Toka Tumai
• Have recent clinical experience with VMAT planning using RayStation
• Demonstrate strong theoretical knowledge of undergraduate concepts in dosimetry and VMAT planning
• Have experience working with staff and students and contributing to the student programme and staff development
• Ideally have experience in senior and specialist roles, with four or more years of clinical experience as a Radiation Therapist
