We’re seeking an experienced and motivated Programme Implementation Lead to support the design and delivery of workforce programmes across the Northern Region.
This role is central to implementing new service models and training pathways that strengthen the medical workforce, enhance employee experience, and ensure operational alignment across our hospitals.
About the role
As the Programme Implementation Lead, you’ll coordinate the planning and delivery of key RMO workforce programmes and initiatives across the Northern Region. Working closely with medical leadership, operational teams, and regional partners, you’ll ensure programmes are delivered effectively and sustainably to strengthen the RMO workforce and support high-quality service delivery.
You’ll lead the implementation of regional workforce programmes, including new training pathways and service models that enhance RMO development and capacity. With responsibility for managing projects, you’ll drive initiatives that meet scope, quality, and performance standards. A core part of your role will involve engaging with medical, operational, and education stakeholders to support effective change management and alignment across districts.
You’ll also contribute to regional workforce planning, preparing governance papers and reports for senior forums to inform decision-making and monitor progress. As part of a collaborative regional team, you’ll play a vital role in strengthening how we plan, recruit, and support the medical workforce
About you
You’re an experienced programme or project professional who enjoys turning complex ideas into practical, sustainable delivery. You’ll bring strong relationship management skills, sound judgment, and the ability to influence and collaborate across multiple services and stakeholders.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A relevant tertiary qualification (postgraduate preferred)
- 5+ years’ experience leading programme or service implementation within health, education, or public sector environments
- Strong understanding of medical workforce structures or training environments (RMO experience advantageous)
- Proven stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with experience preparing governance papers and reports
- Demonstrated understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and commitment to equitable health outcomes
