About the Role

We seek a passionate and engaged nurse who wants to be part of the Bay of Plenty District Health Board National Bowel Screening Programme (NBSP).

This programme has seen more than 2000 kiwis’ cancers found and treated. In this role, you will really make a difference to the people of our region.

Operationally you will work with the small NBSP team and contribute to helping people participate in the programme, complete documentation, network and help to improve the programme locally.

We are seeking a Registered Nurse with two or more years of Gastroenterology Nursing experience who can be flexible, enjoys variety and the challenge of providing holistic care to clients in the community.

You would need to be able to work shifts between 8.00am and 4.30pm Monday to Sunday. 

You will work across the region from the car, office, on the phone and in person.

About the Team/Service/Location

The Te Whatu Ora National Bowel Screening Programme team in the Bay of Plenty supports the delivery of a nationally consistent bowel screening service for eligible people across the region. The local programme focuses on early detection of bowel cancer to improve health outcomes for the Bay of Plenty community. The team is committed to providing accessible, high‑quality screening services that are culturally responsive and centred on whānau wellbeing. The National Bowel Screening Programme has seen more than 2000 kiwis’ cancers found and treated.

What you will bring:

  • Current NZNC registration and Annual Practicing Certificate

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a close-knit team
  • Computer competence

  • The ability to apply a range of strategies to improve cancer outcomes for Māori and their whānau
