About the Role

An exciting opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse to join Kaupapa Māori Community Nursing rōpū – This role supports Urihaumate in the community with nursing needs, including complex clinical health conditions (0.8FTE) This role offers 32 hours per week, including opportunities to cover weekends, and public holidays.

Deliver care that is guided by Te Ao Māori knowledge and practices, ensuring whānau Māori receive clinically safe and culturally responsive support. This position plays a vital role in implementing Toi Ora systems of care, helping to achieve Te Toi Ahorangi and Pae Ora. With support from Te Pare ō Toi, this role offers the chance to expand your clinical expertise while embedding Māori health values into everyday practice.

About You

An exceptionally courageous, passionate, and driven Registered Nurse who embodies manaakitanga and is dedicated to Te Tiriti ō Waitangi will thrive in this role. A desire to integrate Te Ao Māori into clinical practice is essential. 

What the successful candidate will bring:

  • Current New Zealand Nursing Registration and Annual Practicing Certificate
  • Experience in Kaupapa Māori nursing model of practice
  • Commitment to Māori health equity and culturally responsive care
  • Previous community nursing experience is an advantage
  • Readiness to work rostered shifts, including weekend and public holidays
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
  • Experience in projects/initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings
