About the Role

As a Payroll Administrator, you’ll play a key role in supporting the payroll team to ensure accurate and timely processing of pay for all staff across Health NZ Hawke’s Bay. Your day will involve maintaining employee data, assisting with weekly pay runs, managing payroll enquiries, and ensuring compliance with legislation and collective agreements. This is a great opportunity to contribute to a high-performing team that values precision, confidentiality, and service excellence.

About the Team/Service/ Location

You’ll be joining a close-knit, collaborative payroll team based at Hawke’s Bay Fallen Soldier’s Memorial Hospital. Led by the Payroll Team Leader, the team works together to deliver accurate and timely payroll services across the district. With strong connections to the Corporate and People & Culture Directorates, the team values integrity, responsiveness, and continuous improvement - making it a great environment for someone who thrives on detail, teamwork, and making a meaningful impact.

About you

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • Previous experience in an administration role, ideally within payroll or finance.
  • Strong computer skills and proven communication abilities.
  • A high level of attention to detail and a commitment to confidentiality.
  • A positive, proactive attitude and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • An understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a willingness to apply its principles in your work.
