About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to join our Manukau Community Health Team, based in Papakura.
Our interdisciplinary team provides assessment and treatment to patients in local clinics or in their own homes across the Manukau locality. This is a rewarding opportunity to be part of a supportive team while helping patients receive quality care in their own communities.
As a PCA, you will work under the direction and delegation of registered health professionals to support the delivery of patient care. The role includes a combination of clinical, administrative and practical tasks, providing variety throughout your day.
This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week, Monday to Sunday on a rostered shift basis during business hours, based at Awhinatia Health, Papakura.
What you will be doing
- Supporting registered health professionals to provide quality care to patients and whānau in the clinic setting and their own homes.
- Undertaking clinical tasks, you are trained and competent to perform, including taking height and weight, vital signs, blood sugar levels electrocardiograms and simple woundcare.
- Working alongside household staff to ensure rooms and clinical areas are clean and ready for clinic sessions.
- Undertaking administrative and other delegated tasks that support the smooth running of daily clinical activities at the hub and in the community.
About you
We are looking for someone who is caring, reliable and enjoys working with people. This role would suit someone who takes pride in providing a positive patient experience and enjoys being part of a collaborative healthcare team.
You will bring:
- A minimum Level 3 qualification in health care, administration, or a relevant equivalent.
- At least one year’s experience in a service-based or health environment, including candidates who have completed their first year of enrolled or registered nursing training.
- Competence in using information technology systems.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- A strong commitment to delivering excellent service and contributing to continuous quality improvement.
