Patient Care Assistant, Cancer and Blood Service – Pukekohe Hospital

About the role:

We are looking for a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to join our friendly Cancer and Blood Service team at Pukekohe Hospital. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, has strong administration skills and is looking to make a meaningful contribution in a healthcare environment.

Working as part of the Medical Oncology team, you will work closely with Registered Nurses, Registered Health Professionals and the Clinic Administrative Coordinator to support the smooth and efficient delivery of outpatient services. This is a varied role, with a combination of patient-facing, administrative and basic clinical support duties, including:

• Providing a welcoming and professional reception service for patients and whānau
• Supporting clinic room set-up and ensuring clinics run smoothly
• Coordinating infusion bookings
• Providing administrative support to the clinical team
• Assisting with basic clinical duties within your designated scope of practice
• Supporting visiting staff who use the clinic
• Working collaboratively with the wider healthcare team to provide a positive patient experience

This is a part-time position working 16 hours per week, Monday to Friday during business hours, based at Pukekohe Hospital.

About you:

We are looking for someone who is friendly, organised and patient-focused, with the ability to confidently work in a busy healthcare environment.

You will bring:

• At least 1 years’ experience working in a healthcare setting
• Experience working with people from a diverse and multicultural community
• Strong administration and organisational skills
• Intermediate computer skills
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
• A strong customer service focus and professional manner
• The ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
• A genuine commitment to providing respectful, patient-centred care
