About the role

We are currently seeking a self-motivated, enthusiastic and highly experienced Operations Manager to join our Surgical Services team at an exciting stage of service development and regional collaboration.

This role provides strategic and operational leadership across the Waitematā Urology Service and the New Zealand Female Pelvic Mesh Service, a national service supporting women affected by mesh complications. The portfolio also includes management of the regional urology robotic programme, working collaboratively across Greater Auckland districts to support equitable access, service delivery and waitlist management.

The role offers the opportunity to lead complex service delivery, drive innovation and service improvement initiatives, and ensure high quality patient care outcomes through robust performance management and achievement of national health targets.

Working in partnership with clinical leaders and multidisciplinary teams, you will play a key role within the operational management team to support service development, regional collaboration and system-wide improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the operational management of Urology services across Waitematā.
  • Provide operational leadership for the New Zealand Female Pelvic Mesh Service, supporting delivery of this national service and ongoing programme development.
  • Lead operational management and coordination of the regional urology robotic service, including collaboration across Greater Auckland districts and regional stakeholders.
  • Work in partnership with clinical, nursing and allied health leaders to ensure service excellence, equity and compliance with national standards and targets.
  • Drive service improvement initiatives, digital transformation and process optimisation.
  • Support regional planning, waitlist management and equitable access initiatives across local, regional and national programmes.
  • Manage budgets, workforce planning, reporting and performance monitoring.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation and continuous learning.

About You

  • Previous experience working within surgical services, with a strong understanding of clinical and operational workflows.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex services, programmes and competing priorities.
  • Proven network leadership experience with the ability to work effectively across local, regional and national services.
  • Experience leading regional collaborations and influencing across multiple stakeholders and disciplines.
  • Strong track record managing KPIs, health targets, service performance and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, relationship management and change leadership skills.

Experience leading service redesign, improvement programmes and operational transformation initiatives would be advantageous.
