About the Role
This is a key operational leadership role within Māori Health Provider Services (He Ara Whiria). Reporting to the He Ara Whiria Lead, you will provide day-to-day operational management, business improvement, and change leadership to support the delivery of culturally safe, whānau-centred services.
You will lead a team, support service delivery, and work across Te Toka Tumai to ensure services align with Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations and the Māori Strategy. This role plays a critical part in driving equity, improving systems, and strengthening outcomes for Māori.

About you
You are an experienced operational leader with a passion for improving outcomes for Māori. You bring strong leadership, relationship management, and problem-solving skills, and are confident working in complex environments.
Essential:
- Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and achieving equity for Māori
- Proven operational management and leadership experience (ideally in health or public sector)
- Experience working with Māori and/or in equity-focused roles
- Understanding of the Aotearoa health system
- Ability to embed Te Tiriti-based practice into operations
Desirable:
- Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field
- Strong understanding of te ao Māori, mātauranga Māori and tikanga
- 5+ years’ operational management experience
