Operations Manager – Hospital Operations

• Locations may include Auckland City Hospital and Greenlane Clinical Centre
• Permanent, full-time role (Monday – Sunday)
• Lead critical hospital-wide operations and patient flow
• Drive performance across IOC, Orderlies, Bureau and essential services
• Represent the district at regional forums, representing the district in managing patient flow
• Play a key leadership role in real-time operational decision-making
• Facilitate & lead initiatives that may be required at a district level

About the Role

The Operations Manager – Hospital Operations is a senior leadership role responsible for ensuring the effective day-to-day operations of the hospital. You will lead core operational functions, including the IOC, Orderly services, Bureau, and hospital equipment pool, while supporting incident management and service coordination across the district.

Working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, you will play a key role in maintaining patient flow, coordinating resources, and supporting safe, high-quality service delivery. You will provide visible leadership across the organisation, working closely with clinical and operational teams to ensure services are responsive, efficient, and aligned to organisational priorities

About you

You are an experienced operational leader with the ability to work across complex environments and lead high-performing teams. You bring strong judgement, resilience, and a collaborative approach to leadership.

You will have:

• Proven experience in a senior operational management role within a complex organisation
• Strong leadership capability with experience managing large, diverse teams
• Demonstrated ability to manage service performance, workforce planning, and resource allocation
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Ability to lead through ambiguity and respond effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to interact with Senior Leadership of the District in executing initiatives that require

Desirable:
Experience in a health or hospital setting

• Understanding of capacity and demand planning
• Experience in incident management or operational response environments
• Knowledge of the New Zealand health system
