About the Role

Based within our Infant, Child and Adolescent Community Mental Health team in Hamilton, the Nurse Practitioner will assist in improving client health and reducing health inequalities and clinical risk for tamariki, rangitahi and their whanau.

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Assess, diagnose, treat and care planning for tamariki and rangitahi referred with moderate to severe mental health concerns.
  • Provide consultancy, clinical leadership, and skilled advanced nursing practice.
  • Develop alternative models of care.
  • Provide mental health assessments, including ADHD assessments, and follow up care.
  • Demonstrate advanced nursing leadership and mentorship.
  • Collaborate with other Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora health services and NGOs.
  • Deliver on the objectives of the national health strategy.

To be successful in this role, you will work autonomously, but also in conjunction with an integrated and multi-disciplinary team and deliver quality evidence based care.

About the Team

ICMAHS is a secondary mental health service that provide specialist assessment and therapeutic interventions for infants, children and adolescents who experience serious mental health challenges. We have a strong emphasis on family involvement in the young person’s recovery journey.

As a community-based team, we deliver services Monday to Friday during office hours. With service users/ tangata whaiora based both locally and rurally, this role also provides an exciting opportunity to work closely with the communities in which people live.

About you

  • Be a Registered Nurse Practitioner with a valid Annual Practicing Certificate.
  • Hold relevant post graduate qualifications.
  • Have the ability to successfully engage and empathise with families/whānau in a positive manner.
