About the Role
We welcome applications from experienced registered nurses who have varied clinical experience, a nursing education background and a passion for supporting the practice development of nurses.
As a Nurse Educator of general medical and surgical nurses, you will lead and facilitate the practice development programme for nursing.
This is an exciting opportunity to bring your knowledge of kaupapa maori health, education principles, evidence-based nursing practice and contemporary nursing education theory to the nursing team at Whakatane Hospital. There will be opportunities to collaborate and co-facilitate education with other nurse educators to meet organisational learning requirements.
About the Team/Service/ Location
Our collaborative team includes nurse educators on site at Whakatane Hospital and at Tauranga Hospital to provide a programme of supportive formal and informal education opportunities in a wide variety of nursing clinical settings.

About you
As a Nurse Educator you will be a registered nurse who has achieved a minimum of Proficient PDRP level and has worked in a variety of nursing settings for greater than 5 years of clinical experience.
- Significant experience in acute and/or planned care settings
- Minimum of Proficient level PDRP
- Postgraduate Diploma or currently enrolled on the pathway
- Experience may include Educator/adult teaching role, Preceptorship, RN Coach
- Able to travel by car as required between Tauranga and Whakatane Hospitals.
