About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join the Professional Development Unit as a Nurse Educator within the Emergency Nursing portfolio.
This nursing leadership role responds to emerging and variable clinical education needs across emergency care settings within the district. The position supports nurses working in emergency environments and includes facilitating learning for nursing students and new graduate nurses placed within these services.
While based at Waikato Hospital, the role includes travel to rural hospitals across the district. Working in partnership with nurse educators, clinical coaches, and other nurse leaders, you will contribute to the delivery of consistent, high-quality, evidence-based nursing education that promotes safe, effective, and culturally responsive practice.
Key responsibilities:
- Identify and respond to clinical learning needs across emergency nursing services
- Design, deliver, and evaluate evidence-based education initiatives
- Support the professional development of nurses, students, and new graduate nurses
- Work collaboratively to ensure consistent education delivery across the district
- Promote equity, cultural safety, and quality improvement in nursing practice

About you
You will be an experienced Registered Nurse with a strong interest in clinical education and workforce development. You will bring:
- A sound understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a commitment to improving health outcomes for Māori.
- Minimum five years’ post registration nursing experience, with relevant clinical background.
- Proficient or Expert PDRP, with commitment to ongoing advancement.
- An adult teaching and assessing qualification (e.g. preceptorship or adult education).
- Postgraduate study in a relevant field.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.
- A current full New Zealand driver licence.
